The Forest
Authors Note: Just watching some good ole Jacksepticeye and I delved deep into the video bank to find an old video from 2013, which you can find HERE. This video was the inspiration behind this story and I might make more like it in the future. On another note I'm sorry I haven't updated recently, I've been busy and low on idea's but now I'm back and hoping this little short story makes up for it.

He stood at the edge of the forest, he was cold as the snow had just started falling but he was determined to prove everyone wrong. The rumors that had been spread about this forest were terrible and frightening, and poor, poor Evan was known in school as the coward. But now, now he had a chance, a chance to prove them all wrong.
'Calm down Evan, it's just one night' He would think to himself. 'Spend one night here, then get the hell out.'
He cautiously walked forward as the harsh wind blew and chilled him to the bone, the tree's seemed to creak and groan, their branches like hands and arms welcoming him into the forest. Evan's stomach churned with a sense of dread and the urge to run filled his legs, and yet he trudged forward. His determination stronger than his fear, but that fear was quickly gaining in the race to win his mind.
Slowly he trudged through the forest, the thin blanket of snow lightly crunched under his heavy winter boots. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary, it was just your run of the mill generic forest, complete with trees and sticks and leaves among other normal things you would find in a forest. Slowly but surely, Evan seemed to actually relax. He became curious of what secrets the forest held, and traveled deeper into the mix of large trees and winding paths.
Eventually, Evan came across the large oak tree that marked the center of the forest. He marveled at the height and width of the massive tree for awhile and it was a moment before he noticed an old swing, that hung from the lowest branch. The ropes were frayed and an odd gray color, the plank of wood that served as a seat was obviously rotted through and a nice home for various species of bugs.
"Evan, haven't you heard the rumor about the dark forest? A little girl died there, fell off the swing and hit her head on a large rock. Poor girl. With all the demons that haunt the forest, her soul was lead astray and now she attacks anyone who sits on the swing."
Evan recalled how Bethany had warned him about the rumor when he told her his plan, but as much as he had believed the story then, he wanted nothing more than to prove it was just a rumor. Evan cautiously approached the swing and sat down, it surprisingly held his weight and he sat there almost content. Then there was a sudden gust of icy wind and what seemed like a child's laugh, Evan frantically looked around him but saw nothing.
Once again, a little girls laugh resonated off the trees, sending shivers up Evan's spine. He once again looked around, but this time he spied the edge of a white dress disappearing behind a tree. Once again fear welled up inside him and he launched himself out of the swing.
'Fuck this, fuck this, fuck this, FUCK THIS!' He thought to himself.
Evan frantically searched for the exit to the forest as the child's laughter became louder, he didn't care if he was a coward anything was better than what he had just experienced. He ran through the maze of tree's, the sharp ends of branches scrapping and cutting him. He felt a presence behind him as if something was chasing him. Evan tripped over a root that jutted out of the ground and dropped his phone, but he kept on running. He didn't care about his phone, he didn't care if he got scolded by his parents, he just wanted to get away from whatever invisible force was chasing him.
Finally, Evan could see the edge of the forest, he was almost out. A little glimmer of hope lit itself in his soul, just a few more yards and he was free. But just as he shoved open the gate pitch black hands wrapped themselves around his mouth and neck, and pulled Evan back into the forest.
After a couple days of Evan's disappearance his parents filed a missing persons report, but there was little the police could do. Day's turned into weeks, weeks turned into months and months, eventually, turned into years. But nobody ever saw Evan again, not even a body was found.
